The driving force behind Marram Music is Maggie MacInnes. Maggie is
steeped in the Gaelic tradition coming from a long line of Gaelic singers
and storytellers from the island of Barra in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.
Taking her music to an international audience runs in the family as she is
the daughter of the world famous traditional singer, Flora McNeil M.B.E.
To us, music is about much more than recordings. We are passionate about this music and we want to bring it to the attention of a wider public. Marram grass performs an essential function — it binds the soil, preserving and conserving a fragile environment. Our vision for Marram Music is that it will play its part in preserving a fragile language and tradition. As well as conserving the rich and beautiful tradition, we are committed to promoting and encouraging new developments and growth within Gaelic and Scottish traditional music generally.
