NEW CD BY MAGGIE released on 18th December, 2006 “ÒRAN NA MNÀ ” (A Woman's Song)
In 2004 the prestigious Celtic Connections Festival of Glasgow commissioned Maggie to write a 45 minute piece of music which was performed to great acclaim at the festival in 2004 and 2005. Now Maggie has, with some assistance from the Scottish Arts Council, further developed the piece which combines music and song in Gaelic and English and has recorded it using some of Scotland's finest musicians and singers. INTRODUCTION TO ÒRAN NA MNÀ (A WOMAN'S SONG);- As a singer and clàrsach player deeply rooted in the Gaelic musical tradition, Maggie MacInnes hopes through this new music to pay tribute to her forebears. In recent times female Gaelic poets have been starting to find their voices and be heard once again. Their words and the words and melodies of the female bards and tradition bearers of the last few centuries are the main inspiration for “Òran na Mnà ” (A Woman's Song) which links the voices and feelings of woman from centuries past to the present day.

TWO BBC SCOTLAND TELEVISION PROGRAMMES NOT TO BE MISSED AND FEATURING THE MUSIC OF MAGGIE MACINNES;-
“A' FAGAIL MHIUGHALAIDH” (Leaving Mingulay) BBC2 on 28TH December,2006 at 7pm. This documentary is an MNE Television production for the BBC which describes one of Scotland's most beautiful but now deserted islands, its history, its people and its music. Some of Maggie's ancestors came from the island and she provides a mixture of traditional and original music which helps tell the islands fascinating story.
“DA CHANAN AON CHRIDHE”(TWO LANGUAGES,ONE HEART) BBC2 on 25th January, 2007(time tbc). This is a music programme for Burns night presented by Anne Lorne Gillies and featuring along with Anne Lorne, Maggie MacInnes, Karen Mathieson, Alan MacDonald, Jim Malcom, James Graham, Calum Cameron and Sheena Wellington.

The first performance
of this special show which Maggie has put together with Irish Singer/Songwriter
Colum Sands took place on 3rd August,2005 at the Common Ground Festival
in Ayr. The show was inspired by a Gaelic song from Barra called "Gur
e mo ghille dubh dhonn" in which a man leaves Barra to go to Newry
to collect whisky for his wedding. He meets another girl in Newry and stays
there never returning to his broken hearted Barra girl who is singing
the song. The longstanding social and cultural links between Ireland and
the West of Scotland are explored and celebrated through new and traditional
songs in this bi-lingual show. The show was performed at Newtownards Festival
of the Penninsula in September, 2005, The Celtic Connections Festival, Glasgow, 2006
and Laurencetown Co. Down and at the Ballycastle Festival in May, 2006.

At a ceremony in the Queen's Hall, Edinburgh on 4th December Maggie was chosen by the voting public as "BEST GAELIC SINGER OF THE YEAR". Thrilled and deeply honoured by this Maggie would like to take this chance to thank everyone who voted for her.The awards were organised by BBC Interactive and Hands Up For Trad.
SCOTTISH WOMEN
Maggie was one of the Ten singers chosen to take part in a very exciting project called "Scottish Women" which toured Scotland in March 2002. This project involved bringing together some of the finest Gaelic and Scots singers in concert with an all star backing band under the musical direction of Brian MacNeil. The tour was sponsored by the Celtic Connections Festival of Glasgow with assistance from the Scottish Arts Council.
A live CD recorded during the Scottish Women tour was released by Greentrax in August,2004
AN TRAIGH MHOR.......29th September,2005.
During February and March,2005 Maggie was busy with a new commission to write music for a Television documentary for MnE Television Company.The documentary is all about the Barra Airport which for those of you that don't know is in fact a large and very beautiful beach(called An Traigh Mhor)! To perform the music along with Maggie she used some of the very best Scotttish musicians including;-Brian McAlpine( Keyboards&Accordian); Chris Stout(Fiddle); Kevin MacKenzie(Guitar) and Annie Grace(Whistles).
The programme was broadcast on BBC2 on Thursday 29th September, 2005
